Josh Silver sells out HappyHead launch at Waterstones Deansgate with Taron Egerton

21st March, 2023

Last week, Waterstones Deansgate opened its doors to celebrate the launch of Manchester-based author Josh Silver’s YA debut, HappyHead. The electrifying LGBTQIA+ thriller is the first in a gripping new dystopian series, described by Silver as Squid Game meets They Both Die at the End.

The sell-out event saw Josh interviewed by actor and producer Taron Egerton, who has called the novel ‘dark and thrilling.’ The two discussed the pressures placed on teens due to the relentless pursuit of ‘happiness’ and the negative impact that this has on mental wellbeing. Taron asked Josh about his inspirations behind writing the novel, which came largely from his work in mental health facilities and Josh spoke candidly about his own struggles with mental health. After an audience Q&A which included several sensitive and insightful questions, attendees queued for a book signing with Josh.

The pair also touched on the exciting news that HappyHead will become a feature adaptation, co-produced by EgertonYou can read more about this here.
