Rock the Boat signs new middle-grade series from Scott Reintgen

Editorial director Shadi Doostdar pre-empted UK and Commonwealth rights to The Dragonship Series by author Scott Reintgen from Jenny Meyer at Jenny Meyer Literary Agency on behalf of Kristin Nelson of Nelson Literary Agency.

Book one, The Last Dragon on Mars, will publish in paperback in February 2025 and The Rise of Neptune in November 2025.

Reintgen said: ‘I was thrilled to sign on with Rock the Boat to bring The Last Dragon on Mars to readers across the UK. When I first started writing this book, the reader I had in mind was the person who doesn’t think of themselves as a reader. But we know that all it takes is one book to change that. With help from Rock the Boat, Last Dragon  can be that book for so many children.’

Doostdar said: ‘Scott’s sci-fi and fantasy mash up about dragons in space is a true page-turner that is both sophisticated and highly accessible. The world-building is incredible, the cast diverse and it is impossible not to root for the underdog hero. The series also explores valuable themes of friendship, community and resilience.’
